Annual Earth Week Art-a-thon 2020
What is the Art-a-thon?
The Art-a-thon is an annual fundraiser event that takes place the weekend of Earth Week. It's a chance to make art all day long with fun music, inspiring people, and abundant materials. The funds go towards ArtSeed's big event, the Summer Intensive, which is a week-long camp for kids who want to learn the arts.
Historically, the Art-a-thon has been held in the long hallways of the Thoreau Center in San Francisco, CA, but we decided to do something a little different this year. Due to public health concerns and maintaining social distancing, we were determined to reach out to people through art during this year's Art-a-thon. We decided to host various lessons through platforms such as Zoom. Some of our goals for this year's Art-a-thon have been:
Lessons using recycled materials to create collages, sculptures, etc., as well as using basic drawing implements we have in our houses such as pencils, pens, colored pencils, and crayons to make drawings or find new and creative ways to work with them
Multi-day challenges for people to post on social media
Launching new, long-term online lessons
Expanding our fundraising tactics through social media and improving our Mightycause page
The 2020 Art-a-thon itself took place on the meeting application called Zoom. We did lessons all day as well as open-mics and art-sharing.
These are some of Aber N.T.'s contributions to the cause.
